We got to celebrate our 4th of July week/weekend in San Diego.
My sisters wedding was on the 5th so we helped her move down almost a week before the wedding.
As you can imagine we were very excited to get to be in San Diego for the 4th.
The morning of the 4th we got to relax by the pool and cabanas.
they have such a beautiful pool area at their apartments.
Soaking up the sun!!
Alesha and I got to ride the roller-coaster at mission beach.
It was so cool to see the ocean from the top of the roller-coaster.
It was so cool to see the ocean from the top of the roller-coaster.
After our fun roller-coaster ride we stopped at this cute Dole whip shack.
Seriously folks you need to try one of these!
they are so delicious, you will want to go back for more.
We LOVE The beach!!
were ever there is a beach that is definitely our happy place!
of course nothing can beat Hawaii beaches.
Seriously some of the best ribs I have ever had!!
definitely a must if you are in San Diego.
A GIANT game of chess anyone.
This was at one of the malls near my sister Kelsey's apartment.
We finally made it to mission bay where they set off all the fireworks.
And oh my goodness is was so hot walking around trying to find a good place to
sit and watch the fireworks.
We finally just gave up and sat in some shade.
not to far from us was a vendor selling some tuna and shrimp sandwiches
oh my they were so delicious!
Michael and I got the shrimp sandwiches. Mmmm so good!
While walking around we got to see some pretty cool things.
The famous soldier kissing the nurse picture, but in statue form obviously.
Pirate ship!!!
Beautiful sky's and palm trees.
The USS Midway.
We wanted to take a tour of it so bad, but by the time we got to it is was closed.
We found some awesome seats for the firework show next to it though
If you ever go to the Big Bay Boom Firework show in San Diego,
go to the Broadway Pier!
You can see 3 of the 4 barges that the fireworks take off from.
Also they give out free chairs to use and have lots of blow-up bouncy houses
in the building. We also noticed that that Pier had the most food vendors.
I can't remember any of the names, but one of the vendors had
the most amazing octopus tacos.
Oh popcorn how I love you.
THose of you who know me probably know how much I love popcorn.
I eat it all the time!
So my mom got us this HUGE bag of kettle corn from Costco
It is so divine.
The perfect snack to eat while waiting for it to get dark.
As the sun was setting a boat raised an American flag and it was such a gorgeous sight.
Finally it got dark enough to start the show.
On all 4 barges that they had each of them had the exact same show on it
so that those across the way could also watch the same thing we were.
It definitely is one of those things that needs to be on everyones bucket list.
It truly was amazing.
Not as amazing as the Huntsman Springs Firework show though.
I am so grateful for those who have lost their lives in battle in order to keep my family and my future family free and safe. This country is so amazing and I am so proud to be an American. When watching the fireworks I hope you everyone was able to think of what they truly represent. It is a celebration of our freedom and those who fought for it.
God Bless America.
The next day my sister was married!!!!
Ah I can't believe my baby sister is married and starting a new life with her husband.
and that they live in San Diego.
He is in the Marines and is stationed there in San Diego.
We were all happy about that because now when we are
freezing in Utah and Idaho in the winter we can head to California and warm up a bit.
I am so happy for my sister,
but I am not going to lie it really freaked me out that she was getting married.
I think in my headed she was still this little girl that played with any animal that crossed her path.
It is crazy how fast we are all growing up. I wish we could push the pause button for a little while.
But sense that cant happen I am just going to take it all in and make memories with the most important people in my life.
Here are a few pictures that we got with our phones after the sealing.
kelsey's dress was gorgeous and they both looked so happy to finally be together.
Flower girls.
Me and my handsome man.
He got to be one of the witnesses for the sealing along with my dad.
After pictures at the beautiful San Diego Temple
we headed to the La Jolla Cliffs to take more pictures of the cute couple.
Here are some pictures of our beautiful view.
Playing in the ocean
Once we were done with pictures and playing in the sun we headed to the Cheesecake Factory
for the wedding dinner.
Which was awesome because I am trying to get to as man Cheesecake Factories as I can!
I can add San Diego to the list.
When the newlyweds took off for there mini honeymoon
we headed for the pool for one last night with family before they left in the morning.
After sitting in the hot tub we dried off by the cute fireplace.
When everyone left Sunday me and Michael spent our day at the pool and cabanas watching tv.
For lunch we headed to Sonic, which is one of my favorite desert places.
I ordered a green apple slushy and Michael ordered a burger.
We opened up the bag we got and in it we found 2 corn dogs and a grilled cheese
along with his burger.
Um thank you!!
I love corn dogs so this was an awesome surprise.
later that night we went for a walk and found all of these snails!
Snails come out like crazy at night and are all over the grass and side walks
The next day we went shopping with kelsey to help them finish with all the final move in stuff
and then hopped on a plane and headed home.
When we got home we got a lovely surprise.
Our zucchini's grew like crazy while we were gone.
Overall we had an amazing trip to San Diego for the Wedding.
It was a fun, but draining trip.
I did learn that I could never live anywhere in California.
It definitely is a place I can only visit.
Between the heat and humidity and the craziness of the freeway systems and cars.
I would go crazy.
It really is a beautiful place to visit.
I can't wait to visit Mr. & Mrs. Starkweather again.
Thank you for an amazing trip San Diego.
