Snow days in Portland

This winter Portland area has been hit pretty hard with snow, ice and just cold cold weather.  Roads get so snow packed and iced over that it literally shuts all of the Portland area down.  Schools and businesses get closed because no one can drive on the roads without getting stuck.  Portland also does not own very many plows, so roads can take forever to clear up.  They also do not use salt in the whole state of Oregon because they think it will kill all of the trees and wild life.  In my opinion I think our safety on icy roads should win over trees and animals that potential could die from the salt. Many other states have used slat on their roads for years and they still have thriving wildernesses. I guess the slogan "Keep Portland Weird" is their for a reason.
Not going to lie...  It does get exciting when you here there is going to be a major storm coming that will shut down everything! Growing up in Idaho nothing ever shut down for a snow storm because we had the equipment to handle it, so when days like this happen in Portland it is kind of exciting.  Really scary for those who still have to drive in it, but a lot of fun when you just get to stay home and play in the snow.
Speaking of playing in the snow Liam has been loving these snow days.  We have especially loved that dad gets to hang out with us for the few days that work gets called off.  Todays winter storm was by far the best one I have seen sense living here so far.  On the news they said it has been record snow fall in a 24 hour period sense 1980.  The Governor even declared a state of emergency because of all the snow and how many cars and semis were getting stranded on the freeways for almost 24 hours! So ya its been a pretty good storm.
We took Liam sledding at the high school and he wasn't quit liking how deep the snow was.  The last storm we had it only snowed about and 1" so it wasn't so intimidating to Liam then, but now we have almost 7".  So needless to say we didn't last to long and headed back home.  After his nap though we took him back out and played in the piles of snow we made from shoveling the driveway.  He had a blast jumping and rolling around in it!  It was so fun to see him playing in it like a big kid.  He is growing up to fast.
I took a lot of pictures so that we can look back on them and compare this storm to other future storms we are bound to have here.  We have really been enjoying the snow here, but I do hope that the weather will warm up soon so that we are not stranded for to long.  The rest of the week looks pretty cold so we might have the snow for awhile.

Here are pictures of the snow storm that hit a week before Christmas you can tell that it is not as much snow as we got today!

A THANKSGIVING FULL OF FAMILY & LAUGHTER

I was so excited when I found out my family was able to go to Moses Lake for Thanksgiving! Tualatin is only 4.45 hours away from Moses Lake, so once they said they said they were going,  Michael and I were definitely going too. We had so much fun with the family, but missed Kelsey and her husband a lot! Hopefully next holiday season they will be able to get more time off from the Marines. So one of the nights we were there we all played Heads Up (The app game Ellen Degeneres made that is like charades.)  We seriously all about pee'd our pants we were dying of laughter! By far one of the funnest game nights I have had in a while!  I was able to catch a few of them on video, but I definitely missed the funniest ones. Here is a look at our crazy and awesome family! Justin and Dad Michael and Uncle Corby Seriously though if you are looking for something fun to do with a bunch of people, this is it my friends!! Do it. I absolu...

THINGS I LOVE

I feel it is so important to fall in love with as many things as we can, but to also fall in love with as many people as we can. As I have gotten older I have started to love things I did not care about when I was younger. I have grown to appreciate what my Heavenly Father has given to me on this Earth. and I have learned that when you love, you serve others. Which is the pure love of Christ...  and that is what will bring true happiness into your world. I am going to make a list throughout my life of things that I have fallen in love with. I want to be remembered as someone who loved everything and everyone. I want my kids to be able to know what I loved and that serving and loving everything is one of the  greatest gifts we have to become truly happy in this world. .......... Super Bowl

For the Super Bowl this year we are tagging a long with Ben and Rachel and headed to Rachel's mom's house in Heber for the weekend. On Saturday we went to the Ice Castles that were in Midway, which touches Heber, so we decided it would be a good idea to go because towns get selected to host the Ice Castles and this is the 3rd time midway was selected, so we thought we better go because it might not come back again. Once we got there we had to hop into a huge line that did go pretty fast but while we were waiting there were some guys juggling fire torches and also two guy carving ice sculptures, the two they was working on were the seattle Seahawk's hawk and the Denver Bronco's Bronco.  I was really cool to watch.  Once we got in to the Ice Castle we were frozen, we definitely did not dress right for the weather and we went at night so it was even more cold, but it was so cool because they had lights shinning on the ice and it would change different colors too.  Here ar...
